Aadhaar card is an important identity document in India. The above card is required not only for government schemes but also for financial services. It is linked to things like bank accounts, vehicle and insurance policies. Aadhaar card contains details like name, date of birth, gender, address and photograph of the person.
Before the advent of eKYC procedure with fingerprint verification to get a new SIM card, it was not very difficult for fraudsters to get a SIM card issued in one’s name. To strengthen security against identity theft, the Department of Telecom recently launched a portal through which Aadhaar holders can verify SIM cards issued in their name. The portal is called Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP). By following some simple steps, you can check the list of mobile phone numbers issued in your name.
Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) has been launched by the Department of Telecom to allow mobile users to verify their Aadhaar registered SIM cards.
Anyone interested in knowing how many numbers have been issued in your name can do so through the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) new portal that helps you check SIM cards issued against your Aadhaar card. The portal launched by DoT is called TAFCOP. As per the rule issued by DoT, a citizen will be allotted only up to 9 mobile numbers linked to one Aadhaar card.
This portal is not only informative but also helpful in ensuring the safety of citizens.
