Even with today’s more powerful devices, battery life is still an issue. As users, we need to check the current battery percentage regularly, otherwise we might be stuck with a dead phone in the morning and a dead phone at night.
There are many mods that help you keep track of your current battery percentage by changing icons and things of that nature, but developer IJP’s app takes a different approach. It adds a subtle and colorful indicator at the top of each screen, so it makes monitoring battery life a more sophisticated experience.
Step 1: Install the Power Bar
The app that adds a colorful battery indicator to the top of your screen is called Energy Bar, so to get started, head over to the Play Store and install it.

Step 2: Grant additional permissions
When you first launch Energy Bar, you need to grant additional permissions to the app. To start, turn on the overlay using the switch at the top of the screen. From here, select the “Energy Bar” option, enable Access Service and hit “OK” on the popup.
Step 3: Replace your new battery indicator bar
Next, head over to the Energy Bar app, where you can now make some customizations. To get started, you can have the battery indicator as a small bar at the top of your screen or overlay your entire status bar. If you go with the former (with the “Normal Bar” option), you can use the “Bar Thickness” slider to adjust the width of the bar at the top of your screen.
Additionally, you can make the bar appear from the left, center, or right of your status bar, and you can set the bar to auto-hide when you enter a full-screen app.
Then, at the bottom of the screen, you can do more customization in the “Color Configuration” section. The two options here are “Limit” and “Gradient,” but Gradient is a pro feature available with a $1.99 in-app purchase.
So stick with Range as the color type and use the slider at the bottom of the screen to set a lower color range for your battery indicator – something like 1-15% should do the trick. Once you do that, you’ll see a second slider that you can set as the second range. Keep doing this until you’ve added as many color ranges as you want, then tap the square next to each entry. It will display a full RGB color picker and you can assign custom colors that will appear when your battery level is within these limits.
