WhatsApp is one of the most widely used instant messaging apps despite lacking many features. For example, Telegram allows you to use the same account on multiple devices, but unfortunately, this was not possible with WhatsApp – until now. You can now officially use the same WhatsApp account on two phones.
The Connected Devices feature on WhatsApp was introduced last year, but you can only use it on your computer or web browser. However, WhatsApp has released a new update that allows you to link a smartphone to your account. If you’ve always wanted to use WhatsApp on two different devices with the same phone number, now it’s possible. Here’s how it works.
WhatsApp introduced a feature called Connected Devices to replace the old WhatsApp Web functionality. This feature allows you to connect up to 4 devices to your WhatsApp account. Once connected, you can use WhatsApp on these devices regardless of your smartphone.
However, until now, you can only use the connected devices feature through a browser on a computer or another phone. This is not the best solution for those who want to use the same WhatsApp number on two phones. Thanks to a recent update to the app, this is no longer an issue.
Needless to say, you will need 2 phones to do this. If both are with you, follow these steps.
Step 1: Install WhatsApp on your primary phone and login. If you are already using WhatsApp on your mobile then skip this step.
Step 2: Install WhatsApp from Play Store on your secondary device. If you already have WhatsApp installed on this phone, uninstall it and reinstall it.
Step 4: Tap on ‘Agree and Continue’.
Step 5: When prompted to enter your phone number, tap the three dots in the top right corner of your screen. Then, tap on ‘Pair a device’.
Now you will see the QR code displayed on your phone screen. Switch to your primary device to scan this code.
Step 6: Open WhatsApp on your primary device. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
Step 7: Select connected devices. Now go to ‘Pair Device’.
Step 8: The QR code scanner will now appear on your screen. Scan the QR code on your secondary phone.
You are now logged into WhatsApp with the same account on both your devices.
